Our History
AKY Gomlek was founded by İsmail Atasever in 1984.
As a son of an immigrant family, İsmail started working in his childhood. He gained experience working in various retail shops in old city center, Eminonu. During his high school years, he worked as a salesman in a shirt manufacturing company where he learned the dynamics of the textile industry and later became a reputable merchant.
In 1984, he opened the doors of his own enterprise, Akay Tuhafiye which sets the ground for AKY today. With AKAY label, focusing on men shirts and underwear in the early years of the business, he expanded his client network all over the country. Soon after he added another label to his brand, VIVA KAPI, giving reference to his biggest passion; football.
With the involvement of Ismail’s son, Hamdi Atasever, AKAY started its international trade in the first years of 2000. Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Russia have become the primary countries, not only AKAY offered its own collection but also provided manufacturing service for private brands.
AKAY has been updated and transformed into AKY in 2009 with the logo that can be seen on the website now. Since 2000, the company offered shirt manufacturing services to many private label brands mainly located in East Europe and EMEA region.
Today AKY continues its journey with 18.000 shirts production capacity per month and expanding its client network day by day.
